Meet Your 2022 Flagstaff City Council Candidate Sydney Shevat

Sydney Shevat has lived in Flagstaff since 2017. She received her undergraduate degree from Northern Arizona University (NAU) in 2021 and is now a graduate student in the applied criminology program.

Sydney has been involved in many grassroots organizations in Northern Arizona. These organizations include Northern Arizona Climate Change Alliance (NAZCCA), the Flagstaff Women's March, Flagstaff Fridays for Future, Coconino County Democrats, and Arizona Student Association.

Sydney is also a part of many NAU clubs, such as the NAU Divestment Club, the Criminology and Criminal Justice (CCJ) Graduate Student Association, NAU Defenders of Wildlife, the NAU Green Jacks, the NAU Energy Club/Windjax, the 30x30 Club, and the NAU and Flagstaff PERIOD Movement.

Sydney holds a leadership position in NAZCCA, the NAU Divestment Club, the NAU Defenders of Wildlife, and the CCJ Graduate Student Organization.

Sydney frequently organizes community events to fight for a more fair and equitable future for the environment and the most marginalized people in our society.
